rimmel apocalips in shade big bang
Now this is a really exciting high street launch. I find Rimmel a bit hit and miss if i'm honest, some of their things are amazing - nail varnishes/eyeliner pencils/eyeshadows - but some of their newest releases haven't been that great for me. I find their foundations a lil too dark, and their gel eyeliner was one of the worst i've ever tried sadly, however, something they always seem to nail on the head better than any other high street makeup brand is their lip products. I fell in love with the Kate Moss lippies, and even their regular line lipsticks are fabulous pigmentation and creaminess. Their newest little prodigy to the lip collection are these Apocalips lip lacquers, which are liquid lipstick in a tube.
First up, I love the packaging. So cool! It's completely see through, so the shade you see on the inside is what you get - and that gets a big big thumbs up from me. It means that when you're shopping these in store, you know exactly what the shade is gonna look like - cause the testers are often grime-haven muck pots and the packaging on most high street makeup is junk and doesn't reflect the shade well. Second up, it's nicely designed and the lid is wicked cool. One thing I immediately thought was that the name whiffed a bit of last spring seasons Illamasqua launch of the same name - wonder if there was a little pilfering there - but it's a wicked pun never the less. If only they had planned the launch for when the Mayan Apocalypse last month was meant to happen... could have been a cool marketing strategy!
The shade Big Bang is the ultimate pin up red. It's like a liquid form of MAC Russian Red, and it is pure perfection in a tube. As soon as I saw swatches of the collection last year I knew that Big Bang was going to be the one I needed the very most in my life. I wasn't sure how well this would apply, but my gosh I was surprised. Those pictures you see above are one swipe of the product all over my lips. Wah! So pigmented. It glides on softly and perfectly, and the doe foot applicator means you can get a really nice defined finish - especially in the core of the cupid's bow - something that can be a little tricky with brush lip products.
Overall, serious win here Rimmel. Keep boshing out products like this and you've got a fan for life. This is going with me immediately in my handbag, and it's going to be perfect for a good party!
Apocalips will cost just £5.99 (amazing!) and are due to release in store on the 23rd January with over eight shades to choose from. Katie from Katie's Beauty Blog got all eight (lucky devil!) and has done some amazing swatches so click here to check them all out.
What are you thinking about Apocalips? Do you think you'll be picking them up? Do you like the shade Big Bang? How are you rating products like this atm? Do you love or hate Rimmel?
Love, Zozo

Disclaimer: Rimmel HQ sent me a sneaky one to play with before the launch, and therefore t'was a PR sample that I did nor pay for with my $$$.
