handbag beauty essentials for overnight at a boys house

Photobucket

handbag sized things are so cute, non?

Oh em gee. Boys. A sleepover at a boys house!! Wah! It can be the most exciting thing ever. It can also be a foray into an unknown adventure come morning when you want to get ready for the next day and suddenly realise that most boys have nothing at all in the way of beauty stuff in their houses. Honestly. I mean okay, shampoo and toothpaste is probably as good as you're going to get. Now, i'm such a stickler for my morning routine and if i'm crashing over at a manly mans house in the middle of the week and need to get ready for work the next day, I simply need to have all my beauty essentials on my face/hair/body otherwise I feel rancid all day, and it really effects how I feel. Stupid huh? Well over the last few weeks I have been crashing at a boys house (cue giggle) and I have found some amazing handbag sized things that have totally saved my life when getting ready for work or the weekend the next day! I now have a proper little overnight routine and I feel good. Let's take a little closer look at the minis... I love minis so much.

| hair and body items |
l - r: mini blush batiste | kleenex eye make up wipes | ted baker body spray | elemis daily moisturizer* | denman pocket brush | bumble and bumble color minded shampoo* | elemis peachy perfect gentle face wash* | some kirby grips and a hairband | bumble and bumble color minded conditioner* |

My favourite minis of these are the Bumble and Bumble Color Minded shampoo and conditioner - as a coloured hair freak these save my life! I am paranoid and never know what boys have in the way of washing at their houses so I need my good quality haircare! A mini Batiste is always an essential and the Elemis minis are perfect for keeping up with your skincare rituals. I use the Kleenex eye makeup remover wipes because they're a small packet and are perfect for rubbing away my black makeup. I always carry a hairband and some kirby grips just incase I need to shove my hair up - usually if the boy doesn't have a hairdryer! The mini Ted Baker body spray smells lush, fits in my bag snug and isn't a horrible canned aerosol fragrance.

l - r: bourjois intuitive liner* | mua nail polish in shade pistachio ice cream* | kryolan faceliner in 20* | my foundation bottle | mini benefit they're real mascara* | clinique quickliner in intense midnight* |

Nothing makes me feel more like me than my makeup. Of course I carry makeup on me anyway, regardless of where i'm staying, but these don't take up much room and still create almost a full face, well, at least enough for overnight! Okay, so the little foundation bottle was a sample I got from YSL of their Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation, but I used it all up, so now I just fill it full of whatever foundation i'm using at the moment - it creates the most perfect little carry bottle and saves me taking my big glass bottles out! You can get little empty bottles from Superdrug. My favourite eye products are the miniature Benefit They're Real, the Bourjois Intuitive Liner and the Clinique Quickliner - because all of these stay put on my eyes and don't smudge into a panda like mess. The Kryolan Faceliner is so perfect for my eyebrows and fills them in without being too intense. I love the little MUA polishes because they're tiny and fit in my handbag perfect, just incase I need to paint my nails!

| little extras |
l -r: revlon  lip butter in raspberry pie* | extra chewing gum |

Okay so these are just, you know, for being around the boy in general. Of course do not forget your toothbrush but chewing gum is a must! For some cheeky kisses, I always apply a lip product anyway (so my lips look totally kissable, hehe) but you don't wanna go applying a proper thick lipstick, cause the boy will only end up with it all over his face, or you'll have to go and take it off before any prospective kisses! Awks! These lip butters are a good wash of colour but as they're quite moisturiser based they just rub off pretty easily rather than staining the lips - yeah okay he'll probably get a little on him, but you can laugh about it when you rub it off, as it'll be much easier to get off than a lippie!

So now you're all ready in case you get thrown in the morning by a boy with not enough beauty products to satisfy you! I find most boys do have the basics, but it's the little girly things that I missed, and all of these little things fit perfectly in my handbag so it's not much extra effort for me to carry and to feel a bit more like me - especially when first impressions with someone new are everything! And be honest, if you're over sixteen and you're crashing at a boys house, make sure you've got Aston's permission!

What do you think of my little boy beauty survival kit? What do you carry with you when you're going somewhere you know there's no beauty essentials guaranteed? Would you take these things?
Love, Zozo

  4. This is so scarily similar to what I carry in my bag for such occasions! I have a little mini Dove deodorant too, and I never thought of popping some foundation in a little bottle, so I tend to go without. I actually have a spare one lying around, so I'll get right on it - thanks for the inspiration :D

  8. Love this! I do the same and take all my essentials with me - I think I definitely need to invest in some Bumble minis! I can't be without my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish as my skin feels so dull not using it. xxx

  9. Love this post, I always end up taking way too much with me, I have to take a little shower gel and deodorant or else I end up using his and smelling like a boy all day. I'm stealthily taking things over to his now though I'm still waiting for him to notice that he now owns herbal essences shampoo :)

  10. This is a brilliant post Zoe! I've made this mistake before and crashed over at a friends house. Only to wake up the next morning and have to wash my face some sort of face wash I've never even seen, wash my hair with what can only be described as the worst shampoo I've ever used and go home smelling like a lynx factory. Big fat fail! Needless to say I couldn't wait to get home and put something moisturising on my face! x

  14. this post reminds me of when I first started dating my boyfriend and how I had a tiny little bag full of things like this at his, and like 3 spare jumpers/cardigans. it took him ages to understand what girls need- I have to have the right shampoo anconditioner (why don't boys have conditioner?!)
the one thing I would include- a towel . I'm not using a one that smells like a boy- ha ha .
(ps they learn after a while, my boyfriend had a draw full of things he would especially buy for me and make friends hAve the bare essentials)
