Luna Twilight - Femme Fatale Lip Gloss in shade '53 Chevy

I have to start this post off by saying not only have I never read Twilight, I have never seen the movies and don't have any interest in it. Partly because i'm not really into vampires and also because it's not really my kind of thing. If I had been fifteen I would think differently but right now it's not really my thing. Last December I went along to a press day for a PR brand and immediately spied this absolutely gorgeous makeup range that I immediately wanted in my life. On closer inspection, and I mean, much closer because I totally missed all the Twilight branding I realized it was by Twilight. This completely didn't put me off and I still really wanted it! Just after the press day I finally got my hands on some and I wanted to share with you one of my favourite pieces that I keep reaching for since getting. 

Firstly how beautiful is the packaging? I have never seen anything like it and it's so delightfully gothic but in a gorgeous way. I'm not sure it would be for everyone, but the inner goth in me absolutely loves it and the clear packaging style really shows up the twiggy tree all round it and I really do like it. You know what i'm like, i'm such a sucker for gorgeous packaging and branding and this really pleases me! Maybe I would like Twilight after all..

Anyway back to the lip gloss. Why have I been reaching for it so much? Well it's just so pretty. It's a pinky red and while yes it is quite sticky it's very silky soft and I find it lasts for ages. I'm also quite bad at rubbing off all my lip product if I eat something because it bugs me, and after rubbing all of this off it was still there, and kept my lips looking quite pigmented with the red still. It contains argan oil and shea butter which is amazing to have in a lip product, and explains why I was really surprised my lips felt so soft, considering it's a gloss! I also once forgot I had it on (haha) and jumped in the shower. I found when I got out obviously the main bit of the gloss had washed off but again, the stain had still left behind. Really interesting, but I really like it. It's the perfect shade on my pale skin and I know it's probably a bit cliche but it does look like a vampire bite. I decided to dedicate my post this evening to the amazing Amy from Wolfwhistle who's blog i've adored for absolutely ages. Every time I ever even hear the word 'wolf'' or see something with a wolf on I always think of her immediately! I spied this top as a concession in the flagship Topshop store on Oxford Street and it's by a brand called Avion En Papier who I couldn't find any official website or online outlet for at all. I absolutely loved it and had to own it immediately. It's literally hipster as hell, look at all those embellishments, its tie dye and it's got a wolf on it. I mean, come on. Amazing. It set me back £60 but I think it's totally worth it - i've never seen anything else like it ever. It's quite big and feels like the thick cotton of a mens tee so I always cuff the sleeves for a little more of a girly effect but I think it's a real statement piece and definitely catches eyes! I wore it to Fashion Week the other weekend and a little girl on the tube tapped my hand and said 'I like your wolf!' She was only about five! She had been gazing at it all journey and told me just before she was about to get off. Really sweet. I love this tee so much and i'm definitely wearing it far more than I should. Really, really dreading washing it though...eek! I know it's not much help me not being able to link to the brand anywhere but if you pop into big Topshops where they have concessions (again, I can confirm it's in Oxford Street but don't know any others..) you might stumble across it!

MAC Lipstick in Watch Me Simmer - Shop MAC Cook MAC

I'm not 100% sure I understand the story behind this collection, it's a bit like entering a trippy colourful kitchen in a crazy Dr Seuss style world. I tried to even google inspiration for it and no one seems to be able to explain what it means apart from some bizarre explainable nonsense I found on the site (honestly) so i'm just going to draw all my own connotations from it! Basically it's insanely coloured and is set in a whimsical MAC Kitchen. The promo images show crazy colourful girls in plastic shopping and frying jewellery and makeup. It's all a bit confusing. I totally understand the whole 'shop shop shop' bit but I don't really get the relevance of the kitchen and the 'cook cook cook' part of it? Anyway. It's very bright, a bit pop, a bit Roy Lichtenstein and a bit kooky but it's quite cool. It's adorned in a very colourful 'soap' looking packaging which is part of it's charm. This lipstick is a neon yellow/green colour covered in big pink and blue bubbles.

I think a lot of it is other shades repromoted in new packaging (classic MAC) but this lipstick really jumped out at me. I do absolutely love the cremeblend blush in Florida too, just because I think it's so unusual and would really last well. Watch Me Simmer is an amplified creme lipstick which is my favourite style of MAC lippie and caught my eye because it's a gorgeous hybrid of coral and pink. It's one of those lipsticks that changes in every single light and feels almost 'mood changing' depending on how and when you wear it (lighting, sheer or thick application etc.)

Lily also mentioned to me that she was concerned she had just bought Impassioned and that they looked quite similar to her so seeing as I own both I thought i'd include some side by side comparison swatches so you could make up your own mind if you were debating between the two or already own Impassioned. Impassioned is also an amplified creme, so it's pigmentation is the same.

Whenever I wear this blazer and blouse combo I always feel like Karl Lagerfeld, don't ask me why, I think it's just that classic suit style combo. I wore this outfit to day one of LFW last weekend and I loved it. Of course, most of my outfit is from h&m, standard, but my blazer is actually from Zara. Unfortunately this isn't a very helpful post if you wanted to buy that exact blazer because I picked it up in the sale. It was tucked right at the end of the blazer sale rale for a mere £19 and I absolutely had to have it! As you can see in the close up photo it's got a tiny bit of soft glitter running through it so it twinkles in the daylight! Everything else is recent though, the shorts were about £19 and the Dalmation print Topshop bag was £23. The jewelled collar shirt from h&m is also recent and was £25 - ironically the most expensive piece of the outfit! I love a good high street find. I really love this boy-style look and I think it's a great way to wear smart without feeling too over the top and too much like a girl in a suit! 

My bow is a purchase from the wonderful Temporary Secretary, because as soon as I saw it go back in stock online I bought it immediately because it's gorgeous! It was just £8.50 and it really brings a lot to an outfit. I love how they teamed it on the website with a denim shirt - it's gorgeous! You can check it out here.

Benefit and Elle UK Hervana Launch

Last week I went down to a gorgeous hotel just off Trafalgar Square in London for the Benefit and Elle UK press launch of Hervana blush by Benefit. It was set out like a spa, and I was very thrilled to see a big swimming pool in the middle! The event itself was gorgeous, you could get massages and brow treatments courtesy of Benefit or just do what me, Jen and Kate decided to do, which was indulge in lychee cocktails and pancakes! Also serving the cocktails and nibbles were topless men, who we later found out (primarily when they turned around..) that they were naked! Cue giggles! The event was to celebrate all things Hervana which I love the ethos behind. The name comes from a mix of 'Her' and 'Nirvana' which aside from being the grungy early 90s' band means the holy state of being free from suffering. The blush even has 'good karma!' enblazened on the side of it, which I love. Instead of just creating a blush with no real depth, this blush tells a story and due to how natural and soft pink it is it would give you a natural flush you would achieve from being happy, and I like the good vibes it promotes. 

It's made up of four shades which is a first for Benefit but along the same lines as Sugarbomb and 10, and the shades are called lucky shell, divine peach, heavenly rose & berry delight. They're meant to be used all swirled together and when swirled together they create the most gorgeous pink! Let's take a look at the blush and how it swatches heavily.

I really adore this blush, it's definitely my favourite Benefit box blush so far. I absolutely love the new box design with the flip lid and I love the contour blush brush included. These blushers really do last for ages and now they're in better packaging they wear a lot better compared to the old ones that go disgusting after about two trips in your handbag! I'm so happy because it means I can pop it in my bag without worrying about it tearing and going manky. 

Benefit Hervana costs £23.50 and can be purchased on their official website or at all good Benefit stockists including Debenhams, House of Fraser and Selfridges.

london fashion week a/w12 through my eyes

London Fashion Week A/W12

I had absolutely no plans at all to attend any of London Fashion Week. Mainly because I didn't even think to apply for a pass or for shows, and it wasn't at the top of my priorities. Then about three weeks ago everything completely changed and before I knew it I was off to Somerset House with several beauty and hair brands to attend different shows and report backstage on the looks they were creating. Amazing! If i'm completely 100% honest with you, for me it's not all about the fashion. I'm not massively into fashion to the point where i'm hyperventilating over Fashion Week, there are lots of designers I do like and follow but it's not the be all and end all for me. What I do love however, is seeing the makeup that comes out of the week and the amazing hairstyles that define the seasons trends for all of us. The High Street, afterall, takes most of it's inspiration from Fashion Week and whether you're aware or not, most of the looks that come out of it end up on our streets at affordable prices several months later. To see some of the artists and makeup gurus at work was just an absolute pleasure and do you know what I spent three days there but saw very little fashion. I saw lots of hairclips, got hairspray in my mouth a few times and was emerged in a whirlwind of new beauty products and beauty looks, but actually saw very little fashion. But do you know what? I really liked it that way. As much as i'd like to be, i'm not Bip Ling or Susie Bubble and i'm definitely not cool enough to be FROW! I stumbled over cobbles in my £20 heels and proudly wore indie retailers and my h&m classics! 

I got the chance to spend time with Jen, Emma, Lily, Kate, Gem, Jen, Karla, saw Amy at work and met some lovely people behind some of the best magazines in the UK. I also got to meet some of the biggest names in hair and makeup and I absolutely adored every single minute of it. 

Handpicked Media set up a little suite where I could charge my phone, relax and spend some time in the midst of excellent brands, including Warehouse and Ted Baker. The room was full of treats including massages, manicures, threading, eyelash extensions and well, enough cake pops to make you sick! I absolutely loved it and want to thank the amazing team at Handpicked for this really thoughtful gesture - having a chance to sit down out of the rain and also relax while letting my phone charge was just an absolute god send.

I also got to mingle with some MAC artists and check out their new collection. I also saw new launches from lots of other beauty brands and got to meet some lovely faces behind the brands. 

So all in all, a very unexpectedly amazing week/weekend, I want to give big thanks to Maybelline, Label M, Toni & Guy, The Body Shop and everyone else who took me to LFW and looked after me. I've been spoilt rotten and I have had the most inspiring and amazing time. It's possibly even made me consider taking a course in make up... I have left feeling so excited and honoured to have seen the artists at work. It was stressful at times but I felt very much at ease especially with Maybelline and I was very well looked after. I'm really looking forward to future Fashion Weeks now I know I can feel more comfortable as you can go and just see beauty and hair.
